National Monuments

Pompeys Pillar national monument is located near Yellowstone River near Billings, Montana. The Pompeys Pillar was formed around sixty-five million years ago.

Cabrillo National Monument is located in San Diego, California. The monument dedicated to Juan Cabrillo. National monument Cabrillo was built in 1913.

Chiricahua National Monument is located in the mountains Chiricahua. Chiricahua National Monument was established in 1924.

African Burial Ground National Monument is located in Manhattan, New York City. African Burial Ground is more than seven meters high and is made of granite.

Canyon de Chelly is located in northeastern Arizona and has the status of a national monument. Within the monument Canyon de Chelly live forty families of the Navajo Nation.

Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is in Coolidge, Arizona, close to the town of Casa Grande. Casa Grande monument is a place where there are ruins of the Hohokam period.

Fort Union National Monument is located near Watrous, New Mexico. Fort Union was built in 1851 as a building to protect the road to Santa Fe.

Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is in the Gila area of New Mexico. This was the Nation's First Wilderness Area. Gila Cliff Dwellings were built in the thirteenth century by people known as Mogollons.
