Orlik Castle in Prague

The picturesque scenery of the Czech Republic is something of no disagreement. In the country runs the Vltava River, whose waters have memories of the past, and knead it with this. One of the memorable sights along the river is the Orlik castle that looks as if for some time was stopped in centuries ago.

Orlik is one of the most beautiful medieval castles outside the Golden Prague, which you should visit if you have the opportunity. Located on a rock on the left bank of the Vltava River the Orlik Castle is located in an incredibly beautiful region of South Bohemia region in the Czech Republic. Around the palace extends a huge forest.

The mansion is part of the wealth of the famous family Schwarzenberg; it is open for public visits during the summer only. Orlik is quite a popular destination among Czech and German tourists. Burned down several times over the centuries, the fortress raised renovated with new additions and expansions.

Orlik impresses with its solid construction, and is now fully restored from Schwarzenberg in its original neo-Gothic style. Built in the 13th century, the castle has three massive watchtowers, one size dominates over the others.

Beyond the fortress walls visitors here can see an incredible collection of unique furniture made of mahogany and alabaster. All over the castle Orlik has been decorated with china media. On the walls hang the halls of Belgian tapestries and Venetian glass. Extensive corridors here are filled with hunting trophies, antlers, heads of boars, and pretty solid collection of rifles, enough for a whole regiment

Most of them were used not only for hunting but were once the main subjects for preventing the invasion of the Ottoman Empire to the heart of Europe.

Orlik is today a popular tourist destination because the clear waters of the lake are a magnet for lovers of water sports. Around the water pool is a nice camping area perfect for a weekend for resting and many inhabitants are of the Czech capital, which is located only 70 km from here.
