Mirow Castle in Silesian Voivodeship

Mirow Castle is one of the priceless antiquities of Poland. Mirow today has sunk completely in ruins, but still a worthy part of it is left to remind us of the former massive and majestic fort.

Mirow Castle is a medieval castle, located in Poland in south Silesian Voivodeship.

In particular, Mirow Castle and its ruins now seem romantic, but in the past it had witnessed bloody battles in the town of Gmina Niegowa, which is part of the Myszków County. Orientation of the castle is located about 5 kilometers south of Niegowa, 12 km east of Myszków and 53 kilometers northeast of the largest major city - Katowice.

The original castle at the current ruins of Mirow was built somewhere in the 14th century and in the 15th century was substantially improved and reconstructed.

In the following centuries it changed many owners to reach the 18th century and particularly in 1787, after which it was abandoned and was left to erode.

Mirow Castle Ruins

Dominated by its hilltop Mirow until today had not undergone any major restoration work, but it is expected that some time in the future restoration of its construction will begin.

Although not in very good condition Mirow enjoys a relatively high interest from tourists. Still one can safely walk around the ruins of the palace and can gather a quite plausible picture of the former size and growth of the medieval Mirow castle.

In the vicinity you can visit another interesting fortress - Bobolice castle.
