Nairobi National Park is located in Kenya. It was the first national park of Kenya. Establishment of the park Nairobi took place in 1946. The park occupies one hundred a seventeen square kilometers area. The park has high savannah grass and rare trees. This is one of the few parks in the world where visitors can both enjoy the wonders of pristine nature and be very close to the city.

The flora and fauna of the Nairobi National Park is so diverse that tourists are left with the impression that they are in the heart of the wildest part of Africa, not near a city of millions. In the park can be seen lions, rhinos, cheetahs, antelopes, giraffes, gazelles and many species of reptiles. The river Athi crosses the park, in whose waters live hippos and crocodiles. The riparian forests are home to many birds and monkeys. In Nairobi National Park live over four hundred different species of birds.

One of the peculiarities of Nairobi park is the large amount of rhinos that inhabit its territory. Today, in the park live fifty rhinos. Unlike other parks, Nairobi boasts that you can virtually always see a black rhino in its natural environment. Since the park was originally one of the points of the migration of elephants, this has led to a dramatic increase in poaching and because of that today elephants are very rare in the park.

Nairobi National Park has a hospital for wounded and sick animals. Being near Kenya's capital increases its popularity among foreign tourists. Nairobi National Park is known as a place to burn Ivory. Right here were burnt ten tons of ivory, by a presidential order to help end the killing of elephants by poachers who destroy them just for their valuable tusks.

After the initial burning of ivory, in the park were done two more burns - of confiscated ivory and rhinoceros horns.

Athi River is crossed by large populations of giraffe, and the shady woods around it were inhabited by various species. Wildebeest can be seen, as well as ostriches. Pride of Nairobi park are the lions, which are well monitored by park staff, and from entry, tourists in the park can be directed to places where you can see prides of these proud animals.

Cheetahs are among the most famous inhabitants of the park. Near River Athi, you can see impressive flocks of zebras.

Within the park live over a hundred species of mammals. During the rains there are many wild flowers that decorate the area with lovely colors. From the flowers yellow daisies remain intact, because absolutely none of the representatives of the fauna in the park uses them for food.

Near the main gate of Nairobi National Park are located animal shelters, which are combined with the hospital. This is where young elephants and rhinos can be seen. Visiting the shelter is allowed, where you can see very closely the inhabitants of the park.
