Greensboro

Greensboro is a city located on the territory of North Carolina. It is the largest city within the county of Guilford. The territory of Greensboro 269, 666 people live.

The history of Greensboro began in 1808 with the planned construction of a village around a central square of the court building to easily reach the neighboring city court of Guilford.

So suddenly grew Greensboro as a place that is merged with neighboring cities in the triad. A small center of government, Greensboro grew into a commercially strategic center in the twentieth century to become a place where many commercial and business facilities are now concentrated.

The city is named after Major General Nathanael Greene, who commanded U.S. forces in the battle for the courthouse in Guilford, in 1781. U.S. forces lost the battle but managed to inflict heavy losses on the British. This led to the withdrawal of British forces from North Carolina.

Withdrawal of British soldiers led to their defeat in the siege of Yorktown in October 1781. It was recognized by all that only through the efforts of Major General Nathaniel Greene the forces of British troops were withdrawn, which led to complete victory.

Greensboro was founded in the center of the county Guilford. The place was beautiful, with lush forests and green vegetation, with many wild fruits. Land for future settlement was sold for ninety-eight dollars. In the middle was the courthouse of Guilford. In 1821 Greensboro was a place where 369 persons lived.

In 1840 Greensboro city was included in the rail network. This led to rapid expansion of the city thanks to the influx of new people and investments. To this day, traditions of the textile industry have been preserved, Greensboro became known throughout the country.

Gradually the city began to erect tall buildings. American Civil War for a long time did not affect the city of Greensboro. But in 1865 arose from the need for defense of the city.

Greensboro remains in history as the place where the Confederate government finally came together in one place, since then they all had to scatter in different directions. So Greensboro is known as the last capital of the Confederacy.

In 1890 here were based textile factories. Cotton production provided a raw material for production of quality fabrics that were known throughout the country. Besides the textile plants, manufacturing of clothes took place too.

In the twentieth century, Greensboro was growing and becoming richer. This leads to the creation of beautiful tall buildings and the establishment of offices of world renowned companies in the city.

Real estate in Greensboro has been declared a state of wonder in the twenties of the twentieth century. The flowering of the city as it may seem, continued during the Great Depression, when in the city settled two hundred families a year.
