Bangkok

In 2009 Bangkok was named the second most expensive city in Southeast Asia after Singapore. Today Bangkok is one of the “economic beasts” in the world, but the Asian city succeeds in a great way to combine their cultural heritage, historical monuments with famous places and all sorts of entertainment. This symbiosis won Bangkok the image of a very interesting and exotic destination.

Among the biggest attractions of Bangkok are the thousands or temples; in particular are the Grand Palace, Vimanmek Palace Complex and the notorious red light areas that offer passionate pleasures.

All of these sites individually or as a group are the cause of more than 11 million tourists arriving each year. That far exceeds the number of visitors to the world famous destinations such as Paris and London.

Bangkok is the capital, largest and most important city of Thailand. Bangkok is located on Thailand pean bay, right where the Chao Phraya River flows into the marine waters. The river is the most important characteristic that separates the city landscape view. In Bangkok there is a whole river of sleeves and smaller channels, which earned it the nickname, Venice of the East. About 6 500 000 people live in the main part of Bangkok and, together with the suburbs, jumps to nearly 12 000 000. With this population, Bangkok is considered one of the most crowded cities in the world.

Today Bangkok was the result of a huge investment boom in the 80's and 90's in Asian countries. Many multinational corporations have established headquarters in the capital of Thailand making Bangkok one of worlds business and financial centers. In recent decades, Bangkok has emerged as a significant economic, political, but cultural and fashion center as it caters not only for important business deals and cases, but also entertainment and fun.

With these factors Bangkok joins world capitals like Singapore and Hong Kong. You should note the significant environmental problems that have occurred due to the speed growth of Bangkok. According to the World Meteorological Organization, Bangkok is the hottest city in the world. However, Bangkok remains one of the most popular tourist destinations.

Bangkok began to emerge as a settlement, starting first as a small trading town on the west bank of the Chao. This is even before the establishment of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya, which is considered the precursor of modern Thailand. The kingdom has existed since 1350 to 1767. In 1767 it was taken under the control of the Burmese Kingdom. Today the official name of Bangkok consists of 20 letters and is considered one of the longest in the world.

The tour of the places in Bangkok is long but incredibly interesting. One of the largest in the city is the Grand Palace. This opulent royal palace spreads big as the facade, especially the interior design of the castle is decorated in gold and precious stones. This palace complex is truly remarkable for its variety of buildings, which ends with dragon tails. At the Grand Palace in Bangkok you can see the statue of the Emerald Buddha, which is located in the Royal Chapel. This figure of Buddha is the most sacred and most worshiped all over Thailand. In Bangkok there are ancient temples of the Golden Buddha and the Marble temple. The Grand Palace in Bangkok is not used as a residence by the King, but only for ceremonial occasions.

Unfortunately, the four main buildings in the complex are not open to tourists, but the facades are also something remarkable.

You must visit the famous floating markets in Bangkok, where you can buy souvenirs, art objects and other local delicacies. Do not miss a walk around the old houses that are built on wooden pillars in the water. Another quite interesting place to visit is the house of Jim Thompson. He is the most important American in the history of modern Thailand. Another interesting fact is, in 1967 in the jungles of Malaysia, the domestic production of silk begins.
