Lahore is an important and beautiful historical city in Pakistan and has made the declaration of independence of the country. The entire history of Lahore is the key to the events and the history of Pakistan. Lahore is the second largest city in Pakistan after Karachi.

The rich past of this city, which lies on the border of Pakistan and India, has the role in the main city of the Mughal era, Lahore was the capital of the Empire Mughal. Lahore is located in the northeastern part of the country and today has a population reaching more than 10 million. However the city limits and the number of its inhabitants are continually increasing.

Lahore, even if you do not believe is a modern city. There are fun-fairs and local shopping centers which show almost nothing different from our western malls. On the streets of Lahore you can even see sex transvestites. The new, modern part of Lahore has neon ads, expensive shops and various restaurants. Especially popular there is the street known as, Food Street, which is the food street in Lahore. There are snack bars and restaurants in addition to the world food chain which has many small eateries that offer local cuisine for takeaway.

Much of the historic Lahore suffered or was destroyed during the wars with India. The end of that war today in Lahore is noted daily in the city with an official ceremony. Against the price of one dollar, anyone can attend the ceremony of lowering the martial flags.

Undoubtedly the biggest architectural landmark in Lahore is the tower Minar-e-Pakistan, which is the national symbol of Pakistan. There, is the Badshahi Mosque, which is the largest in the country and thousands of pilgrims annually go to meet there. Today, however, the mosque has become a prime tourist attraction in Lahore.

The mosque in Lahore is part of a huge complex that was built between 1556 and 1650 by order of the Mughal rulers of Dynasty. A large ensemble of buildings is a prototype of the town of Lahore, which later developed into today's millionth megalopolis. In the complex of the mosque you can still see the Palace of Mirrors - Sheesh Mahal, and a room built entirely of marble, the marble pavilion. This white space was part of the Palace of Shah Jahan.

The most famous is, the Alamgiri Gate, which was built in 1673 and today is the main gateway to the citadel. The entrance halls of the mosque or more precisely the gardens of the complex is known to many Muslims as the place of worship - Alama Iqbal. One of the towers of the mosque and the Museum was built by himself the Prophet Mohammed. There you can see one of the largest Muslim shrines - Pakistani Gold Quran. The whole complex of the great mosque in Lahore is included in the list of world heritage by UNESCO.

Lahore is known as the city of gardens. In the past, there were built incredibly beautifully arranged parks and green areas, some of which have survived to this day. The Shalimar Garden Parks is something very amazing, it is built like the Muslim paradise after death, which is described in the Quran. Lahore also has a rather interesting and rich zoo, safari park boasting the total area of 200 acres.
