Frontenac Castle
Frontenac castle is located in the heart of the Canadian city of Quebec which is built on the estuary of Saint Laurent. The old part of Quebec is really charming. The historic part of town is a wonderfully preserved and was declared a World Heritage by UNESCO in 1985. It gives a feeling of the spirit of the Gauls. Old Quebec is surrounded by 4 walls each of 6 km in length.
One of the main attractions of the city is the Castle Frontenac, which is now a luxury hotel, built in the late 19th century-style - late Middle Ages. The palace astounds with its beauty as it rises harmoniously amidst a picturesque green area. The first thing you notice when you glimpse at it is the roof which is covered with verdigris copper, the pointed towers and dark red walls, which remind of the spirit of the past.

The name of the castle was given as a witness of respect to Louis de Buade, who was Earl of Frontenac. The lovely palace was built in the 19th century and today the majestic atmosphere of the castle-hotel is everywhere. On the first floor of the massive building are the luxurious souvenir and jewelry shops.
In Frontenac lies the beautiful promenade of Dufferin, which is a pleasant place to stroll with spectacular views of the river and the lower parts of Quebec. Down the lane you can buy ice cream in the summer months or the emblematic products of the Canadian maple syrup or candy from the alley which also offers beautiful views of the ruins of old buildings.
In 1993, the grandiose projects were undertaken to restore some parts of the castle Frontenac. The construction was recovered of the citadel, which was built in 1899. The building of Mont-Carmel was constructed in 1908 and St. Louis and the main door - Tour Centrale was designed and built accordingly during the years of 1920 – 1924.
