Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta is a province in Indonesia, which has a rich cultural and religious history. Except that there you can see unique religious monuments and landmarks. The region also opens the possibility to visit the beautiful and diverse beaches. The location of this historic site is in Central Java, around the green rice plantations in the lower jaw of Merapi. The city is the capital of the so called Land of Yogyakarta Special Region, and is one of the main tourist destinations in Indonesia.
The name of the village is a mix of the names of three of the areas around it. Nowadays, Yogyakarta is a large and bustling city with a population of about 500, 000 people. The city is the local cultural and educational center. It also boasts of excellent conditions for thousands of tourist who go there to visit the ancient religious monuments called candidates.
The interesting tourist site there is Gebang temple, which lies northeast of the village. In 1936 there was discovered a statue of the god, Ganesha and since then the sanctuary is considered a national treasure. It was built about 8th century, together with the nearby temple of Borobudur and much of its foundations like the main body and roof are almost intact. Its dimensions are about 5.30 sq m to 8 m in height.
Although with a simple facade, the temple is impressive and amazing. Besides this temple there were built more temples where thousands of pilgrims go pouring for a special ceremony and then there is the temple, Pramaban, whose main shrines is in honor of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu.
The most important building in Yogyakarta may be the, Sultan Palace. The building is distinguished by its greater elegance all in the one vicinity.
The beach there is also very attractive for tourists because it offers diverse landscapes. Within one of them you can see beautiful coral reefs, and another you can see how an underground river flows into the marine waters.
