Terracotta Army
Terracotta Army is one of historical prides of China. The world-famous Terracotta Army, consisting of thousands of military figures is also one of the biggest attractions of the Chinese city of Xi'an. For decades it has been a favorite spot for tourists from around the world who decide to visit the Republic of China. The city ranks first in number of historical and cultural monuments in China, while it also has incredibly beautiful scenery, which is also a magnet for tourists in the region.
The Terracotta Army is a pleada of statues, which were founded during the reign of the Qing Dynasty. Today they can be found in the tomb of Qin Shihuan, but their view is something that is unmatched anywhere else in the world.
The Army is made up of thousands of terracotta soldiers in full length. All are molded specifically to guard the emperor in his afterlife. The Army in Xi'an is one of the precious archaeological relics in Xi'an.
It was discovered accidentally in 1974 from a deposit that was indescribable - 8000 terracotta figures. The Terracotta Army is a huge ensemble of statues that are exactly 8099 warriors. They are molded with their horses and carriages in actual size. All figurines are made entirely of terracotta. The height of the war range were between 184cm and 197cm.
According to expertise the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang was built around 240 BC. Today this priceless archaeological treasure key is in the List of World Heritage by UNESCO.
Terracotta Army was discovered accidentally in 1974 by some villagers who dug a well near the current Chinese city of Xi'an. While they dug in the dirt they removed from the clay some figures which gave way to one of the greatest archaeological finds of the past 20 centuries. Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di, the ruler of Qin and China are united, he is also considered the first Chinese emperor.
He built the Great Wall of China, but also managed to turn the vast territory from rival kingdoms in the heart of the empire in today's unified country. This occurs in less than ten years - between 230-221 AD. Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di was a ruthless ruler who wanted to prevail, both lifetime and in the next world.
Furthermore, with the Army in the tomb were discovered figures of servants and artists, bronze chariots and armor, frozen for more than two millennia.
Today, thousands of soldiers from the Terracotta Army are available for public visits, as they are set out along with other artifacts from the mound in a special museum. Each year The Army attracts about two million tourists from around the world.
