Albuquerque

Albuquerque is located in central New Mexico, USA. The city is the largest city and capital of the U.S. state.

The city has more than three centuries of history. Albuquerque attracts tourists mainly for its "air experience" - mountain rope transport and colorful festivals with balloons.

The beauty of the city comes from the massive Sandia Mountains, Enclosing the eastern part of Albuquerque.

The highest peak of the mountain chain, extending in the southwestern part of America, is 3255 meters.

Sandia Mountain is one of the main "culprits" for tourism development in Albuquerque. One of the most attractive places in New Mexico is a structure for the Sandia Peak Tramway. Visiting the hills around Albuquerque is more than necessary. A trip on the gondola takes you among the deepest canyons and breathtaking mountainous terrain. And all this at a height of nearly 5 km. Disclosure of the wild places of Sandia will surely amaze you. If you climb to its highest point, you will be able to enjoy the incredible view of the Rio Grande Valley, called the Land of Enchantment. On top of the mountain, visitors have the opportunity to stroll among the amazing forest paths of the Cibola National Forest and observe the rocks, wildlife and local flora. During the period from December to March, the lift is used mostly by skiers. In the area, there are excellent conditions for mountain biking.

As already mentioned, in Albuquerque takes place one of the most amazing air shows – the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. It is believed that the event is the largest in the world, held annually in October. At this time of year, the visitors can enjoy both the large gas balloons flying and the great nine-day festival, together with many other attractions. In the fiesta participate over 700 balloons.

Traces of the hot blood of residents of Albuquerque are found in another annual festival – the Baila! Baila! Dance Company. The celebration of dance collects thousands of Mexican folk artists and ensembles.

In the city center, there are located beautiful traditional buildings of local governors, geared to businesses. Downtown of Albuquerque has organized several major boulevards - Marble Avenue, Coal Avenue and Seventh Street.

Among the most beautiful buildings in downtown are the 80-foot Albuquerque Plaza, Bank of the West Tower and the brilliant "Gold Building".

In architectural terms, much of the city's buildings were built in Victorian and Gothic style.

Albuquerque has one of the most impressive night lighting schemes. Much of the buildings making up the urban landscape are illuminated in different shades and create a unique atmosphere.

Another pride of the city is the University of New Mexico, and the Maxwell anthropological museum.

In the heart of Albuquerque is located Old Town Albuquerque, built in the 18th century.

The U.S. city was named after one of its governors, who ruled the village around the 1650-1660 year. The ruler of Albuquerque was of Spanish origin, and one of his titles was Duke of Albuquerque (the city in the province Badajoz, Spain).

Albuquerque, although not one of the most recognized destinations, has been one of the most developing cities in the United States. Proof of this is the exponential growth of the population of the city. More and more people recognize the small town as home. Today the city's population is about 530, 000 people, and with the Metropolitan areas under the jurisdiction of Albuquerque, the figure reaches 858, 000 inhabitants, which are expected by 2030 to grow to 2 million.
