Specially trained guides conduct tours to visitors, guiding them through the labyrinth channels among places untouched by man. Annually Okavango River has 11, 000 km3 of water reaching the locality of the desert.

Most mammals, numbering to about 200, 000, live in these fertile lands throughout the year as they do not have to migrate due to the dry period. Great herds of buffalo and elephants are composed alone of nearly 30, 000. There are also ostriches.
