Dayton, Ohio
Dayton is a city located in the territory of Ohio. It is the sixth largest city in the territory of Ohio. Dayton is the administrative center of Montgomery County. The population is 141, 527 people.
The city has the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Dayton is known for its many inventions and inventors who were born in this city. Among the most famous inventors from Dayton are the Wright brothers, who managed to invent flying.
According to the U.S. Patent Office Dayton ranks first in patents issued per capita, to any other city in the U.S., in 1890 and fifth in the country back in 1870.
In 2010, Dayton was named one of the best places in the U.S. to start work after college.
The history of the modern city of Dayton began in 1796, seven years before the Ohio Union. Then twelve settlers traveling to Miami River, found two camps of Indians.
The town is named after Johnatan Dayton, who owns the land on which the city is built. Dayton was a captain in the American War of Independence and signed the U.S. Constitution. In 1827 he started building the canal of Cincinnati, which greatly facilitates transport from Dayton to Cincinnati and Dayton’s trade marks a period of prosperity and economy of the city.
In 1884 was founded the National cash register company, whose founder is John Henry Paterson. The company produces the first cash register in the world. It plays a key role in shaping the success of Dayton as a manufacturing center and converted it into an industrial city. In were 1906 introduced the first electric cash registers of the company.
After the great flood in Dayton, which collapsed the economy of the city, John Patterson gave almost a million dollars to assist with efforts to clean and rescue.
During World War II, Dayton, like many other American cities, took an active part in supporting the war, especially in the production of goods. The constructed buildings grow to such an extent that is necessary to build temporary homes, some of which are inhabited today.
Between 1940 and 1970 the city celebrates the era of significant growth in economy and population. Huge production facilities turn into health care and defense locations, and the town is recognized for the aerospace center of Ohio.
Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, Center of Dayton was undergoing revitalization. The stadium Fifty-Third Field was built, which became home of the team Dayton Dragons.
Cultural Centre (Schuster) opened in 2003. Here are all the cultural events held in Dayton. In 2010 a plan for the change of downtown Dayton was put into execution. It focuses on job creation, infrastructure improvements, housing and recreation.
