Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle is one of the historical treasures that have survived to this day within the UK. The popularity of this palace is huge, not only among the British, but also among many tourists from around the world who literally flock to see this historic fort.

Today Warwick is the most visited by any other English house in private hands and is the second most visited castle after Windsor Castle.

Warwick is determined as the finest medieval castle in the country. It is located in the homonymous area which is part of the English District Warwickshire. The majestic medieval castle was built on the bend of the picturesque River Avon and today is a feudal castle in the county.

Warwick Castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 and was used as a fortress until the beginning of the 17th century when Sir Bracelet (Fulke Greville) turns it into a private home. Since 1088 the possession belonged to the powerful Earl of Warwick, who used the castle as a symbol of his power and majesty.

Warwick Castle was conquered in 1153 by Henry of Anjou, and later by Henry II. Over the centuries, the stone walls of the high towers here were used to jail many prisoners, including those of the Battle of Poitiers in the 14th century. In the 15th century the English King Edward IV was locked here.

Warrick is in the shape of a rectangle measuring 75 meters long and 105 meters wide. Its walls are 15 meters high, and inside them are eight locked towers with a height of 45 m.

In his works, Sir Walter Scott describes it as the most majestic place in England. Today the Warwick Castle holds one of the most important European collections of armor and weapons, along with paintings by masters such as Rubens and Van Dyck.

The incredible power of Warwick Castle feels best in its overall view. In the 18th century, 60 acres of land had shaped the park by Lancelot Brown. Since then, a huge population of beautiful peacocks inhabit the area.
