Castle Grafenegg

When you mention the castle Grafenegg, invariably the first thing today, which we can associate it with is the music festival, which is held in the beautiful garden of the palace complex. This symphony of sounds is one of the biggest international festivals of classical music.

The castle itself is located near Vienna, in Lower Austria. In the park of the ancient castle Grafenegg is built a unique concert staging, and the idea is to follow the model of Salzburg as a place for cultural festivals.

The concert hall can hold 1, 200 spectators and the outdoor stage provides about 1670 seating for people to be able to enjoy the works. The Concert Hall Auditorium is suitable both for concerts and large receptions and gala dinners. The particular emphasis is the acoustically modeled wall structures and elements of the acoustic ceiling with special lighting.

Grafenegg old buildings formed a whole new structure, which were carefully arranged on the background of centuries old park. The unique emphasis on the stage of high places is "tower in the clouds", a sculpture of metal, concrete and glass that rises to 15 meters and offers a beautiful view from different perspectives.

Grafenegg castle itself exists in its present form by the 17th century, when it was fully restored with adjacent park areas. In the past centuries it was a beautiful water castle with water channels round it. Today they are drained, but still maintain two bridges that lead to the inside of the palace.

In the 19th century, Count Ferdinand reconstructed the castle to a neo-gothic style modeled on the English Palace, which impressed him while traveling around the island. In architecture Grafenegg can be seen from the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and neo-gothic style of moments.

The interior of Grafenegg is a unique blend of massive wooden gates and doors, richly ornamented with carvings, leather wallpaper, paintings and antique objects, silverware and a lot more things that are reminiscent of a typical palace’s refined atmosphere.

Today the castle Grafenegg offers a few days for exhibitions, private parties and weddings.
