Hudson River and New York City

Hudson River is one of the largest rivers in the United States of America. This is a landmark for the New York metropolis, with its current run in eastern New York. At its southern end it forms the border between the states of New York and New Jersey. The length of the Hudson River is measured at about 507 km.

It named after, British maritime explorer, who sailed under the Dutch flag in 1609 - Henry Hudson. Today the river is a major cause for the wonderful view of New York. At any time of year, especially during the summers months when you can see the sailboats and yachts.

Hudson River originates from the lake bearing the beautiful name "Tear of the Clouds" which is located on top of Mount Marcy, which in turn is part of the mountain chain of Adirondack Mountains.

All are built by the best American architects, landscape engineers and decorators of its time. These magnificent architectural masterpieces are carefully restored and open to the public for excursion groups. Most of them are located close to each other which makes the tour that much easier.

Some of the curious details and facts about the Hudson River become with its first swimmer. It happened in 2004 when Christopher Swain marks the first record of man who swam the entire length of the Hudson River .
